The British Computer Society (BCS)

The British Computer Society (BCS) has been championing the careers of people in IT and project management for over 60 years and is the Chartered Institute for IT.

BCS have two PMO related certifications:

  • Programme and Project Support Office (PPSO) Essentials
  • Programme and Project Support Office (PPSO) Advanced Practitioner

The Essentials Certification is aimed at those new to a career in project management as a Project Administrator, Project Co-ordinator or a team role within a PMO. It’s also a perfect introduction for graduates looking to start their career within project management and PMO.

The Advanced Practitioner Certification is aimed at the more experienced PMO practitioner – especially those setting up and managing permanent and/or temporary Project or Programme Management Offices.

Why should I take a BCS course?

The BCS courses are old but gold. While newer qualifications have been released, theses courses still hold valuable information for those starting out in PMOs.

Which BCS course is right for me?

The PPSO Essentials is complete introduction to PMOs, if you’re new to the industry, a recent graduate or are looking for an access level course, this is the one for you!

The PPSO Advanced Practitioner course is the next step up, for those getting into PMO management.

Do I have complete PPSO Essentials to take PPSO Advanced Practitioner?

Yes, the PPSO Advanced Practitioner requires an Essentials certificate.

What happens after my BCS course?

You’ll recieve a certificate after completing your BCS course.
