AXELOS MoP® Practitioner Certification

PMO practitioners have chosen MoP® because they’re working at a portfolio level – within a Portfolio Management Office or an Enterprise PMO (ePMO). In this type of role, it is important to understand how portfolio management determines which projects and programmes an organisation decides to do and when.

There’s long been a saying that portfolio management is about doing the right projects and project management is about doing the projects right.

For a PMO practitioner, it is important to understand some of the key themes such as investment appraisals, business case development and portfolio prioritisation.

MoP is particularly useful if you are setting up a Portfolio Office or organisation-wide PMO and are looking for best practice to inform your approach to implementation.

Virtual Classroom Training

Virtual classroom training takes place with a live instructor throughout the online course and you will be learning alongside other virtual learners – you’ll be able to see and hear them too!

The MoP® Practitioner level course is specifically for:

Those leading or managing a Portfolio function
Those involved in a range of formal and informal portfolio management roles encompassing investment decision making, project and programme delivery, and benefits realization
Those working as members of Management Boards and Directors of Change; Senior Responsible Owners (SROs); Portfolio, Programme, Project, Business Change and Benefits Managers; and business case writers and project appraisers.

The MoP® Practitioner Certification follows on from the MoP® Foundation. Where the Foundation certification focuses on the fundamentals of MoP®, the Practitioner level is about the application of MoP®.

In the course, learners will learn:

How to define the business case to get senior management approval for portfolio management
How to plan the implementation of portfolio management
How to select and adapt MoP® principles, practices and techniques to suit different
organizational environments
How to evaluate examples of MoP® information (including documents and role descriptions)
• How to analyse the solutions adopted in relation to a given scenario

After the course, learners will be able to:

Demonstrate an understanding of how to apply and tailor the MoP® guidance and to analyse portfolio data, documentation and roles in relation in a practical context.
Advise on the implementation of appropriate practices and techniques, and apply the method to a live portfolio.

You’ll sit your MoP® Practitioner exam with Peoplecert. Peoplecert are the providers of the online MoP® Practitioner exam.

We’ll issue you with a voucher and all you need to do is book your examination time slot. You can choose to do the exam when it suits you – same day or later. There are lots of times available – including in the evening.

Michelle Rowland

Michelle is a recognized expert in project, programme and portfolio management (PPM). She has reviewed many books on the topic and has made a significant contribution to the development of many qualifications.

Michelle has been teaching MoP® for nearly 10 years, and was chief examiner for MoP® for over 2 years prior to becoming lead examiner for AXELOS ProPath including MoP® in 2021.
