Portfolio Prioritisation and MoP®

We’ve just returned from the PMO Conferences in London and Edinburgh – and we had a fantastic time meeting new people, seeing some familiar faces, and having some great conversations with delegates about the real problems their PMOs are facing.

One of the top issues we spoke about with delegates across both events was portfolio prioritisation. Here at PMO Learning, we offer the MoP® certification suite, in which one of the 5 practices (understand, categorize, prioritise, balance and plan) within portfolio definition is prioritise. The suite goes into greater detail to look at the various approaches to prioritising projects within the portfolio, using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods, whilst recognising the different levels of maturity within an organisation.

For example the course teaches delegates how rank change initiatives within a portfolio based on one or more agreed measures, with the most common being financial metrics – such as net present value, internal rate of return, and payback. The certification suite goes into greater detail into using multi-criteria analysis, taking into account risk, strategic impact, and business need.

If this is an area that you are your PMO are struggling with – why not find out more about the MoP® certification suite, or join us for our first ever MoP® Foundation and Practitioner training courses, taking place on the 18th – 22nd July. Even better, you can secure your place on both courses for one great bundle price!
