The Essentials for PMO Analysts certification is the second qualification in the new House of PMO Essentials certification suite. Launched in September 2021, it’s proving extremely popular with our delegates – so if you’re considering completing some training this year, why take the Essentials for PMO Analysts course instead of one of the alternatives?
Course Overview
The training is run over the course of five days, and covers five key areas:
Context, Roles, P3M Administration, P3M Delivery Support, and P3M Enabling, including areas such as change management, risk management, stakeholder engagement, the key activities involved in the setup, running and closing of PMO services and the fifteen key competencies required to support delivery activities in projects, programmes and portfolios – and how each competence is used to delivery PMO services, as well as much more.
Theres a lot to cover over the five days, but the certification enables delegates to gain the essential knowledge and understanding of how to undertake the role of a PMO Analyst – not just looking at the responsibilities of the role, but also the key skills, behaviours and competencies required to succeed.
What Differentiates the Essentials for PMO Analysts Certification from other PMO Training Courses?
The Essential certification suite is very different from other PMO specific qualifications. For example, P3O certifications undoubtedly provide a fantastic overview of P3O structures, models, implementation, tools and roles, and is fantastic for those working in and implementing PMOs within their organisation. However, if you’re looking to really get stuck in to the specifics of your current (or aspiring!) job role, the Essentials range is a great training option to consider.
It’s also a brand new certification, designed specifically in keeping with the requirements of the PMOs of today developed by active PMO experts and those working within PMOs, who understand what has previously been missing from PMO training and development.
Another great reason to consider the Essentials for PMO Analysts course is the course textbooks, the PMO Competency Framework and the PMO Service Catalogue. The PMO Competency Framework is created by PMO professionals for PMO professionals – designed to be used by any PMO professional to assess their current knowledge and experience; to identify skills gaps and development needs and to benchmark themselves against a professional PMO standard.
How can the certification help me in my role?
The course is based off the PMO Analyst role profile from the PMO Competency Framework, and so specifically outlines the requirements for those working in these roles.
Furthermore, the course uses both theory and practical application in order to establish and develop your base knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to support you in your role.
Who should take this course?
Essentials for PMO Analysts Training and Certification is aimed at current PMO Analysts, PMO Coordinators, Project Support Officers and those moving from a business operations role into a PMO. This course is suitable for those who have foundation-level knowledge of project, programme or portfolio management. As a result, a formally recognised Project Management certification at Foundation level is a prerequisite. Completion of internal organisation-led courses is also accepted.
The course is also appropriate for PMO Administrators looking to move up to the role of PMO Analysts (may also be referred to as Project Officer or Project Co-Ordinator), and those who have worked within a project team and are looking to move into PMO or Project Management.
