Hi I’m Simon. I bring knowledge of leadership and management to the PMO world in “how-to” “when to” and “why?” terms.
I’ve been helping people understand how to fulfil management and leadership roles using situational pragmatism for the past 20 years of my 40 years in blue-chip environments. My passion is helping people take on the role of transformational leader. A mix of sociology, psychology, complex adaptive systems, politics, frameworks, methods and the glue to bind those more important people focused elements together.
My career includes a number of different PMO focused roles, including; restructuring a $6bn ‘corner’ of GE; running a PMO servicing the leadership team of a 400 person New Product Development and introducing portfolio management within the insurance sector; implementing a PMO addressing how to take its top 30 or so senior project managers into the transformational leader role and several other PMO at a variety of maturity levels.
My career started in software at the London Stock Exchange but since then has included most industry sectors and included massive and the more niche organisations, for example, mobile phone network test equipment manufacturer and satalite communications software.
I now run a training and consultancy company offering eLearning and face-to-face training such as Agile Estimating, PRINCE2-Agile and I deliver PMO-Learning’s AIPMO Foundation, Practitioner and Expert courses. Certification is clearly vital and I believe the extra pragmatism of non-exam courses is also important.
